GVI Service Centre offers a no-deposit repair finance option through Smartcover Finance, so you can spread the cost of larger repairs instead of paying it all at once. Finance is subject to the provider's approval and terms. Ask us when you book and we will explain how to apply.
Most car repairs are small, but some are not. A new transmission, a full brake overhaul or an engine repair can arrive at an awkward moment. Rather than putting off work that affects safety or reliability, you can spread the cost.
How it works
- We inspect and quote the repair. You see the cost before anything starts, as always.
- If the quote is larger than you want to pay at once, ask us about finance.
- We explain the finance option and how to apply. Smartcover Finance is the provider, and a no-deposit option is available.
- Once it is approved, we do the work. A courtesy car is available while the car is with us, subject to availability.
About the finance provider
Smartcover Finance is an Auckland-based lender that offers car repair loans. It runs its own online application, so you deal with Smartcover directly on approval, repayments and terms. GVI Service Centre quotes and carries out the repair.
What Smartcover's repair loans cover
Smartcover lists these as repairs its automotive repair loans are designed for. Most are jobs we do every week:
- Mags and tyres. New wheels and tyres, fitted and aligned here. See tyres and wheel alignment.
- Brake repairs. Pads, discs and brake system work. See brake repairs.
- Engine rebuilds and repairs. See engine and cam belt repairs.
- Transmission and gearbox repairs. Quoted after we diagnose the fault.
- Emergency repairs, when a breakdown cannot wait.
- Car maintenance. Servicing and repairs bundled together. See car servicing.
What to know about applying
- The application is online and Smartcover says it takes a few minutes, with a decision to follow promptly.
- Smartcover offers flexible loan options and says it publishes its terms clearly. Read them before you commit.
- Credit history: Smartcover advertises that bad credit is not necessarily a barrier, but every application is assessed by Smartcover and approval is never guaranteed.
- Questions about a loan go to Smartcover on 0508 738 765 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm), or see its how it works and FAQs pages.
What it is useful for
- Bigger mechanical repairs, such as transmission or engine work
- Several repairs at once, such as brakes, suspension and tyres
- Repairs that cannot wait, because they affect safety or a WOF
Not every repair or customer will qualify, and the provider decides. Ask us what is eligible for your job when you book.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a deposit?
There is a no-deposit option available through Smartcover Finance. Terms are set by the provider, so ask us when you book and check the details before you apply.
Who provides the finance?
Smartcover Finance. GVI Service Centre does not lend the money, and approval, rates and terms are the provider's.
Which repairs can I use it for?
Ask us when you book. We will quote the repair and tell you whether it is suitable for the finance option.
How do I apply for repair finance?
Tell us you would like finance when you book and we will quote the repair first. You then apply online with Smartcover Finance at loans.smartcover.co.nz. Smartcover assesses the application and sets the terms.
Can I finance tyres, brakes or an engine repair?
Smartcover lists mags and tyres, brake repairs, engine rebuilds, transmission and gearbox repairs, emergency repairs and car maintenance among the repairs its loans are designed for. Eligibility is always Smartcover's decision, so ask us when you book.
Can I still get a courtesy car?
Yes. Courtesy cars are free with bookings, subject to availability.
